Most new mentors are matched with Sophomores. However, are you willing to mentor a student who is a junior or senior and thus only has 1-2 years left in the program?


Although we will match you with a mentee of the same gender, we cannot guarantee a mentee of a particular race, nationality, or religion. However, please let us know if you have a preference:

From time to time we have a few students who can be more challenging than others to mentor for a variety of reasons. We also have new mentors who enjoy such a challenge. Commitment Section


The mentoring relationship is designed to last throughout the student’s high school career. Can you make the commitment, barring unforeseen circumstances, to work with your student until graduation?

The minimum time commitment for mentors is face-to-face contact with your mentee once a month, can you make this commitment?

If provided with adequate notice, are you available to attend Legal Outreach debates, which take place on two Fridays during the academic year, one in the fall and one in the spring, from 6:00-9:00 pm, as well as arrange social/cultural activities with your mentee at least two-three times a year? (PLEASE NOTE: Due to the impact of COVID-19, debates and social/cultural activities may be implemented virtually.) In-person debates are mostly at law schools such as Columbia Law, NYU Law, Cardozo Law, Fordham Law, St. Johns Law, and CUNY Law.
