Which borough do you live in?

We use this information to best pair students with coaches in the same borough.

If you do not live in the 5 boroughs, please let us know if you’d be able to come to in person debate nights in the spring.

Due to the hybrid nature of the program, meetings may take place via video call, but we strongly encourage that at least 2 of the 3 meetings happen in person. If in person, meetings should occur at your law school.

To be a coach, you must commit to meeting with your students three times before each debate and attend the debates themselves. There are two debates per year (three for students who make the finals), with about 8-12 weeks between each one. Meetings last approximately two hours and are scheduled to fit your availability. The regular debates are on Thursdays from 6-9 p.m., while the Debater of the Year competition is from 5-8 p.m. You will not be accepted as a coach if you cannot fulfill this commitment, except for debate attendance on religious grounds.

while some coaches may be assigned to 1 student, the standard arrangement will be 2 students per coach. Coaches will meet with the students simultaneously not individually.
